"You say it's your birthday"

Amelia turned 0 today. She is now full term, as her original due was today, July 11th. So, compared to other Cannon babies - who average somewhere in the 9lb area and 19 inches long - and Banker babies - who hang around the 7 1/2-8lb range, - Amelia is on the smaller size side. She hit 4lbs 11ozs tonight. Xina and will go off of today's date while entering her into school or any other thing that has age requirements.

She is still on the CPAP, though her enriched O2 requirement has been incrasing a tad dring the day. Tomorrow, the 3rd day, could be a telling day. Babies who make it past the 3rd day more times than not continue on that path without having to revert back to a ventilator. She had a busy day today. Grammy C and Grandpa C and Uncle V came into town, and Grammy was able to hold Amelia for about an hour. She had multiple smelly diapers, which kept us busy (I think I am now ahead of Xina in changing poo diapers, by the way...) and she was awake for most of the day's visit with the G'Rents.

During the evening, she had a bit of a scary incident when she had some breathing apnea and a brady. The nurses called in the doctor and RT to help... kind of scared the you-know-what out of me. In the end, they gave her and extra dose of albuterol and suctioned out her nose sinuses and mouth and had her on 100% O2. She repsonded to that, and about 40 minutes later was laready back dow to 60% O2 and sleeping realtively calmly. But those episodes are not fun to watch. They happen, as we knew they would, and aren't really threatening in the long term, as long as they jump on them like they did. But scary nevertheless.

So we hope all these aren't a sign that she's tiring excessively and that she'll poop out and revert back to the ventilator. The nurses seem to be thinking in a positive light, and Xina and I are hopeful. Day 1 could be a telling day.
