No bad news to report today! Maybe Amelia has broken the pre-Monday curse. She had a blood gas at 4:00am and it was really good, so they weaned her on her pressure to 31! I might be wrong, but I think this is the lowest pressure setting she has been on. She had a follow up blood gas and it was on the high side, but they left her where she was. Then they gave her the Albuterol and ran another blood gas and her CO2 was 64. Very acceptable. They will leave her on this setting and see how she does with it. They are now doing blood gases every 24 hours, so her next one will be 10:00 tomorrow. Aunt Marian, Uncle Ben and the girls are in town for the weekend and have visited her a couple times. We are h eading out to the hospital soon so they can say good bye one last time before they head home.
They have stopped her on antibiotics for her infection. She is still eating full feeds that are being fortified with extra calories and supplemented with the electrolytes she needs to maintain the correct balance. Even though she is eating well, she has lost a little more weight. I think she is probably not retaining any extra fluid now. She has good urine output and is a little poo factory according to her nurses.
They have been weaning her on her temperature. Her isolette has a warmer on her bed so the temperature could be raised or lowered depending on her body temperature. Now they have her in a shirt and wrapped in blankets with the isolette on a lowered setting. They still check her body temp and as it started to rise, they would remove a blanket to cool her down into the acceptable range. They started doing this on Friday. By yesterday afternoon she was just in the t-shirt and with one blanket laid over the top of her. It seems she is doing well at maintaining her body temperature. This is good because it is one of the criteria for her being able to be sent home. Now if we could just get rid of that pesky ventilator.
UPDATE: Amelia's feeds have been increased again to be adjusted for her weight. She is up to 35 mL! And she gained 70 grams of real weight since her last weigh in. She is now approximately 3 lbs. 3 oz. She is growing "up and up and up" as her Aunt Catherine used to say.

What wonderful progress! It's good to hear that Amelia is doing so well. God bless all of you! Marie Grip
Dear Christina and Todd,
Met with Mary Pat at lunch today and she has been keeping tabs on Amelia and finds she is doing well, especially the last few days.
Many more days like these last few, and Miss Amelia's path home will be fast approaching. What an incredible journey she has taken in order to be big enough, well enough to join you and Todd at home.
May she continue her forward progress with all the love and prayers her family, extended family, friends and acquaintances and blog followers have to offer.
Even happier days are those to come, Love MOM (Grammy)
