Not a lot to report for the last 2 days. Thursday Amelia remained relatively stable, though her stats were getting a little worse as the day wore on. She lost a little weight, though, and that was good, since she was carrying extra weight in fluid.
Unfortunately, the bad trend continued through the night and all day today. Her Friday morning x-ray was encouraging, as it showed she had less fluid in the lungs. But with her stats worsening throughout the day, they ordered another one, and that one shows that while it looks better than 2 days ago, it was now as good as the morning's. They've gone up on her ventillation as much as possible, so they will give her an extra dose of lasix to try and help dry out some lungs, but if that doesn't work well, it's likely she'll be transferred to the oscillator sometime tonight.
It is rather disheartening at first glance, especially since she had such great stats after the right after the surgery... but it's not totally unexpected. The doctor was worried she'd have to be on it directly after the surgery, but she has held off this long, and that's a good thing. We knew it would be an up and down ride, and we're just on a down right now. Nothing is life threatening right now, and they have many options they can attack her with still open. The true best cure for her is simply growth and getting her lungs bigger and sronger so that they can combat the fluid. Until then, it's a tempermental problem they fight with a balance of drugs and forced ventillation.
She also lost a IV, so they had to replace it in her head. It looks odd and painful, but she doesn't seem to be discomforted by it. But I can't wait until it's gone. Xina read The Shy Kitten and is begining The Saggy Baggy Elephant; we have been talking and singing to her for a while also. We feel relatively impotent; unable to touch her or hold her because she's so finicky and gun shy. But I know she hears us and knows our touch and smell. We can see it in her regulatory breathing stats, and she frequently sats-up (that's a good thing) when we're interacting with her. We just wish we could remain here 24/7 to help her through this. We'll get a lot of time this weekend, though.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl! You keep gaining lbs and losing fluid for mom & dad. I thought of your mama as I read the blog--and since she's a Notre Dame devotee, i thought these lyrics were oh so appropriate today:
We will fight in every game,
Strong of heart and true to her name.... Cheer, cheer for our AMELIA, Wake up the echoes cheering her name, Send a volley cheer on high,
Shake down the Thunder from the Sky!
What though the odds be great or small,
Our AMELIA will win over all..
Happy B-day Amelia! We wish you a prompt recovery.
Michael had an IV in his head after he was born. It was truly weird to behold. But as you know, he came through that fine. We've still got your backs and the prayers keep flowing. Take care of yourselves. Amelia needs you, and so do we. Love, Marie & Dan
