Just having a little chat with Uncle Ben.
Uncle Ben and Amelia taking a nap together.
Amelia starts occupational therapy and physical therapy today. They are going to do some assessments on her and then start working with her. Anyone who has been in a bed as long as Amelia needs to get her body moving, so this is not a sign that there is anything wrong. The OT is to get started working with her on her sucking skills so that when she finally gets on nasal cannula she can start feeding from a bottle. Sometimes kids who get to be as old as her without ever being bottle fed, lose the ability or want to do it when they finally are free to do so.
She was awake alot yesterday and I held and talked to her . We moved her mobile to a different spot on the crib. Formerly we had it at the head of the bed, but we moved it to the foot of the bed. She had noticed and looked at it before, but yesterday she looked like she was trying to stare a hole in it.
She got really sleepy before the shift change and was pretty much zonked out for the rest of the evening. Nathan's mom came down for a little visit too. Everyone agrees Amelia is quite the chubster.
Her fiO2 was as low as 58% but for the most part stayed in the low 60s. They want 40s before they move her down to CPAP 4. Her weight was 8 lbs. last night for the second night in a row.
UPDATE: I called her nurse this morning and she said that she was down to 50% overnight while sleeping on her tummy. She is up in the low 60s now on her back. She needs to bring it down more, but it looks like her rapid breathing is not nearly as frequent as it has been the last couple days.
