First of all, they did not do the test for her eyes. Apparently it's a specialized test and only one opthalmolgist in Houston can conduct it. So our attending nurse, second prime Ami, spent most of the day chasing him down, and finally had to hand it off the NNP on call to set up. So it may be a couple of more days before it gets done.
They take blood tests every Monday, and her CO2 numbers were higher than they want, so they raised her pressure on the cannula to back to 3 lpms. The pod was really hot all day, and Amelia does not do well in that, so was laboring a little more than usual by the evening time... but still staying in the 45-55% realm on the FI02.
She had a very busy day. The OT came in and Amelia took 5cc from the bottle, which is a huge relief to us. We feel that is a great sign for her feeding on her own. And I had the pacifer in her mouth for about 10 minutes, and she sucked on it properly about half the time. So we believe our concerns on that may be a bit overstaed and premature.
Both Gmas got some holding time with Amelia yesterday. First My mom, then Xina's mom. Then Xina took over, then I took over... so she was all about the love. That's a lot for her, and it says something that she tolerated it so well.
And she pushed herself from her tummy to her side all by herself one time in bed. So PT is doing wonderful work. She has more control over her neck muscles now, too, so she's getting stronger all around.
