Amelia pooped out on her nasal cannula yesterday and had to be put back on CPAP. We are hoping it is a momentary back step. She is on CPAP of 6 and at 53% oxygen as of this morning. Dr. Khan wanted to get her off of cannula before it became so bad that she would have to go back on the vent. NOBODY wants that, so if it means CPAP for a little while longer we will take it. Some areas of her lungs collapsed and it will take a little bit to get them reinflated. They are considering alternating her on CPAP for a few days and nasal cannula for a few days once she gets down to CPAP of 4 with low oxygen requirements...usually in the 30-40% range.
This pooping out either was caused by more fluid she was retaining (she gained a pound over the last week) or she may be refluxing and aspirated on some of her food.
They have doubled up on one of her diuretics and they have ordered another ph probe to determine if she is refluxing. If she is they will either give her previcid or thicken her feeds to make them heavier and less likely to come back up.

So sorry about the "back-peddling" but I'm glad Dr. Khan is on duty at this time. I know you are very disappointed and Amelia may not be feeling as well...but as she has shown, she will overcome this "moment".
