Getting Better All the Time

Yesterday Amelia ate 40ccs of formula, mostly mixed with rice cereal, but some squirted in her mouth with the syringe. She did do her possum trick at the end where she feigns sleep in order for us to go away. It was pretty funny. She would close her eyes. I guess she thought we'd disappear when she did that. But then she would open them to see if we were still there and when we were she would shake her head from side to side and rub her eyes, like, y'all, I am realllllly tired...see? Anyway, you can't out trick a tricker so we kept shoveling it in and she kept eating it. Maybe today we can get up to 50ccs.

I think they are going to try to get her off of 2 of her diuretics, so they have decided to reduce the volume of food she is getting, but go up on the calories so that way she has less fluid to get rid of. The doctor wants me to have the least amount of meds to give her when we bring her home.

The doctors are starting to lay the groundwork for her to come home. They want to restest her to make sure her pulmonary hypertension has resolved. It looked like it had at the last test, but it gives the doctor an indication whether if she gets sick if she would be able to fend it off. I feel like it won't be long now.

She should be weaned to 2 liters today and I really feel like she can do it with no problem.

The end is near Amelia, but its really just the beginning! Christmas in Houston would be great, but having you at home is even better. And keep on tricking them little girl....humor is completely necessary to your recovery:)

My sweet Amelia playing possum. That had to be a stitch! What a little stinkertail. She seem to be rushing those last few paces in her uphill climb; gaining much strength as she goes. Won't the view from the top of that mountain be the most beautiful sight. We will all pray extra hard for everything to fall in place for her and that she gets home and settled BEFORE Christmas. Ready or not.......here she comes. Love MOM/Grammy

Very exciting news! That cereal will buy you some precious sleep time at night when she comes home. I am glad she likes it. It is so awesome to hear that she is getting ready to make it home- finally! We will keep up the prayers! Everybody knows what you want for Christmas :) Love, Bridget

I love the playing possum trick!!! How funny. And how wonderful to hear that they are starting to think in terms of "when she goes home." What a wonderful Christmas that would be!!! Marie Grip
