It doesn't look like Xmas is in the cards at this moment for AE's homecoming. Amelia is still requiring 3LPMs on her oxygen pressure and having a bit of trouble keeping all her feeds down. We think the latter is causing the former, so we hope to get a few things switched with her feeding that will enable her to keep her food down. It could be the regurgitations are enflaming her throat a little, and she still hasn't recovered completely from the little collapse from last week. So the combo is weighing her down. They attempted to put her down to 2 & 1/2 LPM yesterday morning, but she just could not handle it. It's not that her saturation levels are bad - in fact, compared to a month ago they're higher. But because of the hypertension, they are required to be higher to keep the vessels open.
She's been really active, though, and obviously feeling better than she did last week. She wakes up around 4am right now, and will stay awake until around 2pm or so, with some catnaps in there. After that, you can pretty much count her out, as she sleeps the rest of the time. She's 13lbs 12ozs now, and has outgrown all of her 3mnth clothes (she is 5mnth real age). But that growth is fun to watch. She's doing well with her PT, but we've gotten behind on her OT again, which we need to pick back up. Our pod is thinning out a little, as one of our long term friends went home this past week (yea Jake!) - we wish them all the best. Another boy who is a older than Amelia and had many more difficulties, is readying now to go home tomorrow. He's a cute kid, and we would be happy if some prayers got thrown his way (go Mychael). These are the good things we get to see which encourage the nurses and doctors and parents to keep at it.

I know you are both a little hurt and disappointed....but Amelia's turn to leave that NICU will come.....and we will all celebrate with you ! And you know, I don't think God would mind if you have a late Christmas celebration....tree and all !
We will all just keep on praying for Amelia's turn !

I'm glad things are continuing on the right path, even though a bit slower than you hoped. She knows she is giving me more time to get her Christmas stocking done. Thanks, Amelia! (I know Mom and Dad don't give a hoot about that...they want her home!) Just so she feels better and can make that cute smile all the time! I'm dying to hold her again, and maybe next week since GDad is getting better. Prayers,Love and Hugs, GMa
We know how disappointed you are, but this is just a little detour along her road to home. She will be there before you know it. Marie Grip
