Amelia Elizabeth was born on April 2, 2009 at 12:08 am. She finally made it home after a NICU stay of 335 days. We are so happy to finally be together as a family. Amelia has grown to be a very happy, joyful and social baby. We are thankful for all the people that worked together with Amelia to bring her home safely. Now the fun begins!

What's the Deal?
Amelia went to CPAP mode this morning and she is doing great. They were supposed to extubate today and they still might, but we are not sure. They want to get a blood gas on her to make sure she took to the changes well, but unfortunately they are unable to get any blood out of her. They can't find a vein and they have been trying all morning. They sedated her to put in a PICC line but couldn't get that in either. Because she was so sedated they put her back on the vent because they were afraid she may not breathe on her own. So now we have no blood gas and no extubation and from what I have heard, no plan on what to do next. This is very frustrating. She is probably ready to get off the vent, but because they can't get blood to prove it, they won't move forward. Will let you know what happens next.
