Today they have lowered her vent settings to 13 BPM from 20 yesterday. As long as her blood gases are good I think they will keep lowering. The important thing is her fiO2. They are changing gears and going faster on weaning her fiO2...they just weaned her 10% over the last hour. She could be on CPAP today. They do the CPAP setting on the vent so she still has the tube in place in case she can't make it on CPAP mode. That way they don't extubate and have to reintubate. She is at 45% oxygen right now. I think 30% is where they want to be in order totally extubate and put her back on cannula.
She was being swaddled, but when she is awake now she seems not to be as agitated as she was before. She is still very active with her arms and legs, but I have been occupying her with some toys for her hands and we got a mobile from Child Life that she can look at. She seems to be pretty happy, but kind of dosey and out of it at times too. Which is probably for the best.
