Out and about

Everything is going well. Amelia is smiling all the time, although she has had a couple of melt downs.. but that's like any other kid. Her stuffiness is much better now and she shows no signs of the cold. She's back on her therapy schedule, (yesterday in the middle of pT she did have a 10 minute meltdown) and Xina started feeding her baby food. She loves the turkey with gravy flavored baby food (who wouldn't except for uncle Bill?), but the yogurt seems to mix with her mucous and plug her up a little, making it hard for her to breath. So that will get 86ed. Xina has decided to feed her small amounts multiple times a day and see if that will help in the desensitizing of her mouth and get he more used to mouth feeding. ECI was in today to teach Xina new ways to play with her on her stomach... one of our major areas of negligence is making her play on her stomach and working on strengthening those rollover muscles.

Since she's been home, we've been able to get her oxygen needs down; we had her down to 1LPM for a day before she got sick and her hospitalization, and last night we turned her down to 3/4 lpm... the first time she's been below 1 for longer than 4 hours... she saturated in the mid to high 90s on it last night while sleeping, and we're seeing how she does today while she's awake. If she does well, we might try 1/2 lpms... this is wonderful progress. Both Xina and I have been probably a little too cautious about weaning her down, but when not sick, she's definitely strong enough to remain at 1 or below. We've gotten in the habit of keeping her on 1.25 at home and 1.5 while out about town, but we really need to push her a little and work on the weaning. It's just so uplifting to think about her being less reliant on the oxygen.

We took her to Costco and Babys-R-Us over the weekend, and I didn't think she would ever wipe the smile from her face - she loved every minute of being out. We got a few odd looks, but mostly smiles at her happy demeanor.

That's about it from Princess Amelialand.

And no better dream than that you are living. "Dream a little dream for me......."

Just came in from a hectic day and found a beautiful bouquet from my very thoughtful eldest daughter for Mother's Day. Can't tell you what a surprise that was! Nobody deserves that more than Christina herself, and still she takes the time to make her Mama happy. Love has no bounds.............Love Mom/Grammy
