Amelia went to the gastroenterologist last week. It wasn't really FOR anything, but for me to talk to the doctor about weaning her off the tube. The kid eats and she tries almost anything offered,but the problem is that she is grazing all day long on little bits of food and all in all it doesn't amount to enough to sustain her. The doctor suggested that because she is constipated (she goes every other day with difficulty) it may be the reason why she doesn't eat more. We have been given this same stool softener in the past, but once she started going again, we stopped. This time he made it clear, give it to her twice a day for two weeks regardless. He wants to see if this is increasing her appetite.
At the end of the two weeks if her appetite has not increased we are going to give her an antihistamine that has the side effect of increasing appetite. We also have an appointment in the med center with a dietician that will help us come up with a weaning plan.
