We had our follow up appointment on Monday and the doctor was pleased with her eyes. They are aligned and now it is up to the brain to start using them together. During her exam she said she was sometimes using them together and sometimes using them individually. It could take months for the brain to adjust to the new alignment, so now it is a matter of waiting to see what happens. It is agreed that cosmetically they are a success.They look pretty straight and hopefully the way her eyes look will no longer be the conversation starter I never wanted in the grocery store check-out lane. The most important thing is that we can resume SWIMMING in the pool. Muy, muy importante!
Amelia also had some sort of rash she developed last Saturday and I took her to the pediatrician after her eye doctor appointment because they were in the same building. She was given a prescription strength antihistamine and she has already cleared up.
Tonight Nick Jr. did a commercial on the letter "R" and Amelia repeated "r." I don't know if she actually saw the "r" and said it or if she was just repeating what she heard. She seems to be using words on her own more spontaneously, repeating lots of words she hears, and has begun grabbing our hands to show us what she wants.
