Went went to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston Saturday with one of our most favorite families ever --- The Prices! There was a traveling exhibit of Impressionist Masters works that we have been planning to see for weeks. So many famous paintings by artists like Cezanne, Degas, Monet, Pizarro, Van Gough and Cassatt!
We saw this one! Cassatt's Children Playing on the Beach.
Amelia did well at the restaurant beforehand, but then we ran into nap time and her art appreciation skills were nill. She had a melt down in the middle of the hall and Todd had to wheel her into the 16th century Dutch art area which had no one in it, so she could blow off some steam. She wanted to get down and crawl, but we wouldn't let her. She was pretty bored of being in her stroller and moving slowly while we looked at the paintings and read all the information. He picked her up to calm her down and she put her mouth on his shoulder, bit down, and wouldn't let go. A little while later while we were all gathering near the gift shop, she did it again on the opposite shoulder! She is mouthing cardboard and human flesh. What's next? I can't get her to eat anything with nutrition!
Sunday I decided we were going to get in the car and go find some bluebonnets to take her picture in. Texans, bear with me while I explain this to others...Bluebonnets are a wild flower that is the Texas state flower. They grow in ditches and fields somewhat randomly. It seems to be a Texas thing to take a picture of your baby in a field of bluebonnets. Last year, Amelia had just gotten out of the hospital, had her cannula and was too fragile for travel, so I was very determined that this year we were going to get our shot. Bluebonnets have their own page on Facebook and there are websites dedicated to people reporting where they saw a good patch perfect for photographs. Most of these spots were too far from us, so we just got in the car and went. It took us 2.5 hours of driving, but we found a very pathetic patch of Bluebonnets right outside of Chappell Hill where as coincidence would have it, the town was hosting its annual Bluebonnet Festival this weekend.
